For the past month, I’ve been trying some new cleaning products from Natural House. These natural household cleaning products contain probiotics, which means they use good bacteria to help do the job. The products are:
TRASHY
|
SINKY
|
FLUSHY
|
Natural House gave me the opportunity to try a 30-day supply of each product in my own home, so that I could tell you about my experience. They’re also allowing me to give away a set of the products to one of you lucky readers. I am not being paid or receiving any other compensation, and everything written here is my own impressions of the products and the company.
TRASHY eliminated the smell of death from my garbage can.
Remember that garbage can I told you about, the one that smelled like something died in it? The very next garbage pick-up day after I wrote that, I sprayed the inside of the can with TRASHY. The spray has a light, minty smell, kind of like toothpaste or mouthwash. It’s not overpoweringly strong, like some “air freshener” sprays. After using it, I didn’t smell anything as I walked past the can. The next week, I opened the can and put my head down near the opening, and I inhaled. I noticed a slight odor, but nothing like before. Once again, I sprayed it a few times with the TRASHY. After that second use, I never noticed the death smell again! As far as I’m concerned, TRASHY works! Granted, the temperatures have cooled off some, and I’m still interested to see how TRASHY keeps odors down in the middle of summer, but we’ve had some pretty warm days since I started the TRASHY trial, and I never noticed the stench of garbage like I used to.
FLUSHY made cleaning the toilet (and the brush) a breeze.
The next product I tried was FLUSHY. I was a little nervous about tossing the entire packet in the toilet bowl. What if I was really supposed to remove the little plastic covering and dump the stuff in? But I needn’t have worried. After a few seconds of sitting in the bowl, it fizzed a little and then *poof* the whole thing dissolved or peeled back, because the powder burst out and started fizzing. The FLUSHY foamed up so much, I couldn’t see the toilet bowl at all. I probably waited a few more seconds than I needed to, then I grabbed the toilet brush and started scrubbing. Because of the foaming, I couldn’t really see what I was doing, so I just tried to be thorough, and then I flushed. Almost all the stains and build-up in the bowl were gone. Once I could see, I was able to get the couple of spots that I’d missed. One of the most impressive things was that the toilet brush itself was a little dingy from lots of use, and it practically looked new again after using it with the FLUSHY. We’ve used it a couple of times now, and I don’t think it helps with any of our other pipe issues; I was hoping that it might make a difference in the functioning of the toilet, but our problems are probably caused by roots in the line or some other issue with the pipes. As a bowl cleaner, FLUSHY is great. I don’t feel like it contains anything that prevents build-up, but it does make cleaning fairly easy.
I should mention that my husband is usually the one who cleans the toilet. I decided to try the FLUSHY one night after he’d gone to bed, and I was a little disappointed that he didn’t mention the toilet’s cleanliness the next day. A couple of days later, he finally got over his shock enough to comment on how clean it looked.
SINKY results are harder to classify.
Finally, I tacked the kitchen sink with SINKY. On this product, I don’t feel like the directions are clear, and I tried contacting the company through the form on their website. Although I identified myself as a blogger selected to do a review of the products, I kind of wanted to test the customer service. I never heard anything back. I don’t know if my information didn’t transmit correctly or if my ISP filtered their response for some reason. All I know is, I’m not entirely clear on how I’m supposed to use this stuff.
The first time, my husband was helping me. We put the SINKY packet in the right side of the sink, the one that the pipe goes straight out. We poured hot water out of the faucet (admittedly, not the hottest water in the world) onto it for a few seconds, and it burst and fizzed a little. We waited about 20 seconds, based on the FLUSHY instructions, then my husband turned on the faucet and flushed out all the SINKY foam. Looking down in the drain as much possible, it still looked kind of slimy and coated, and I couldn’t see any difference at all in the left side.
The second time, I put the SINKY packet in the left side of the sink. I heated water in the microwave and poured it slowly over the packet. I let the foam sit in the pipe for several minutes this time. I could see bubbles forming and rising from the right-side drain as well. I think it removed some of the slime and build-up, but didn’t look as clean as I expected. I have a couple more packets, and I will try them again. I had waited a couple of weeks between uses, in hopes that I’d get better instructions from the company. It may be a case of needing regular use to really keep the drains clean. I do not have a disposal, so I can’t testify to how it would work with one of those.
CONCLUSION
So, I’m sold on TRASHY as a way to keep down the stinky trash can odors, and I’m fairly impressed with how FLUSHY makes cleaning the toilet bowl easier. I’m just not entirely convinced that SINKY is improving my kitchen sink drains.

My toilet and hard water. YUCK
vmkids3 at msn dot com
I’d have to go with the trashy, because it’s really hard to get rid of the smells without cleaning the entire can, which is a pain. This would be really helpful!
prettishi at yahoo dot com
I also have to go with trashy, I have a compator and it gets nasty
I need sinky because my sink is always getting dirty from the dishes that people leave in it.

I have a home with one bathroom (yes, this needs to change soon!) with 3 of us and the bathroom always seems to be dirty, I would love to try out the flushy to see if this will help a bit!
My biggest challenge is the garbage smell. I have tried everything (bleach water, baking soda, etc….) I hope this product will do the job
the toilet and trash cans. trashy can help me with the trash cans
I’m very worried about diaper odor in our small house. I think trashy would help contain and eliminate it.
I want to try Trashy! Sometimes I am tempted to just nail the closet where we hide our trash can shut! Yeah, it is that stinky!

We have hard water, and I think Flushy would help get the toilet clean.
my kitchen sink is never quite clean enough. i’d love to try some sinky on it.
TRASHY, SINKY, or FLUSHY can help me a lot because the boys in my house mess up the bathroom and the kitchen also could use a good cleaner.

My trash always stinks! I hope trashy would help
Two boys (ages 6 & 8) = Dirty toilet! I need Flushy!
Well, clutter is my biggest cleaning challenge…which this won’t help with. But second to that is three messy boys in the bathroom…which Flushy might help with.
Now, if only there was something to help re-direct pee pee INTO the toilet, in stead of in the seat, or on the floor, or (gross) in the lego duplo box someone left in the bathroom (thankfully, no legos were in it).
We live too far out in the country and don’t have garbage service. My husband is good about taking it regularly, but it still isn’t as soon as a service would pick up. This means we get smelly trash!

My biggest cleaning issue is the toilet. Probably because I just don’t clean it as often as I should, but “Flushy” should give me a little motivation and work nicely.
I find it so difficult to get the toilet clean. It sounds like Flushy’s a great product and I’d love to try it.

5 boys + 1 toilet = a major need for flushy!~
I hate cleaning the toilets so I would love to try Flushy! I like the idea that it is a non toxic cleaner and that the probiotics keep on working!

I have twins with special needs. Let’s just say cleaning the toilet is a huge chore. 🙂
I need Flushy because the skylight creates algae goo and bacteria that is resilient! Thanks for the chance.

I have a horrible toilet that I think the flushy product would be great for. It’s one of those low flow ones and it just doesn’t work well. hickenfam at hotmail dot com
I hate cleaning the sink because there is always some sort or residue stuck which needs a lot of extra scrubbing and it irritates my hands especially when using those harsh chemicals I currently use. Using the Sinky from Natural House will be a great help because it will get the job done without the harsh chemicals that leave my hands peeling and rough.

I think Trashy would help me most, as my trash can stinks constantly!
I have three toilets to clean! Potty training soon! Dirty diapers in the trash and stinky dishes in the sink!
I have a FLUSHY problem because my husband is so messy when he uses the toilet I have to clean it after every use I think FLUSHY could do wonders for our two toilets.
